Through the use of color you can actually make your paper easier and more exciting to read. The use of a limited color scheme can actually help your work more than the use of an unlimited color scheme. It can help show that your work is organized and help it to flow. It is important that your text has good contrast though which means that the text is easy to read and that the colors don't get in the readers way.

Design Principles
The four basic design principles include alignment, proximity, repetition, and contrast. Alignment simply means that all the words on the page line up together on the page. When creating a webpage you need to be sure that you use the same alignment throughout the entire page. Proximity refers to the relationship things have by being close together. Just by being close to one another items appear to be close in nature. Repetition refers to the fact that throughout the entire page you should have certain ideas that are brought up constantly to tie in all the loose pieces of information and to make your point bold. Contrast is what brings your attention to the page. On your page you need a focal point that captures the attention of the eye and is the base for the rest of the page.
